Top scorer and world's most popular football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has announced that he will leave Manchester United. Ronaldo's decision to leave comes days after he launched a violent attack on the club in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo, in a statement about his separation; "After discussions with Manchester United, we mutually agreed to terminate our contract early.

I love Manchester United and the fans, that will never change. However, it feels like the right time to look for a new challenge.

I wish my team every success for the rest of the season and beyond.”

In the statement made by Manchester United; "Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United by mutual agreement with immediate effect.

The club thanks him for his tremendous contribution in his two seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 games, and wishes him and his family all the best in the future.
