A massive explosion occurred in an apartment on the island of Jersey in the English Channel.
A building collapsed as a result of a violent explosion in St Helier, the capital city of Jersey Island. Authorities announced that 1 person died and more than 10 people were missing. While the fire that broke out after the explosion was extinguished, search efforts were started.
Robin Smith, of Jersey Police, said: "Some residents are still missing following the Pier Road explosion this morning. Emergency services are continuing their search and rescue efforts at the scene. I don't know the exact number of flats, but there is a 3-story building that has completely collapsed."
