Thousands of angry fans entered the field after the home team lost the match played in Indonesia 3-2. 125 people lost their lives in the incidents.
The match played at Kanjuruhan Stadium between Arema and Persebaya Surabaya football teams resulted in one of the bloodiest disasters in the history of sports. Arema fans entered the field after their team lost 3-2. 125 people died and at least 323 people were injured when the police forced the crowd away from the field.
It was stated that the deaths were caused by the injuries caused by the brawl, as well as the intense use of gas by the police.
Amnesty International has called for an investigation into police use of tear gas.
While Indonesian President Joko Widodo has ordered an investigation into the incident, it has been announced that stadium security will also be reviewed.
One of the dead is a 5-year-old boy
Speaking to local television, a hospital administrator explained that one of the victims was 5 years old. It is not yet known how many of those who lost their lives were children.
