NASA's 'Artemis Moon Program', which aims to transport humans to the Moon, started preparations for Artemis II after the completion of Artemis I.
Before the moon landing before the crewed flight to the lunar orbit, NASA introduced the crew that will take part in the moon landing. The Artemis II mission took place at the event held at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. For the first time, a woman and a black astronaut took part in the lunar mission team.
Of the four-man crew, Christina Koch, 44, who holds the record for longest continuous spaceflight by a woman and was part of NASA's first three all-female spacewalks, and Victor Glover, 47, a former US Navy pilot who has performed four spacewalks, is 47. The Royal Canadian Air Force will include Colonel Jeremy Hansen and 47-year-old former US Navy pilot Reid Wiseman. All astronauts except Hansen have previously served on the International Space Station (ISS).
"The crew of Artemis II represents the thousands of people who have worked tirelessly to get us to the stars. This is humanity's crew. We go," NASA Director Bill Nelson said in a statement.
