The UN is concerned about the US 'eavesdropping' on the UN Secretary-General
UN Spokesperson Dujarric held a press conference on the news that the United Nations Secretary General and some senior UN executives were eavesdropped by the US government.
Following the news that the speeches of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and some senior UN officials were listened to by the US government, UN Spokesperson Dujarric answered a press member's question on the subject at the daily press conference yesterday.
Spokesperson Dujarric used the following statements;
“We have now formally expressed our concern over recent reports that communications from the host country (US) to the Secretary-General and other senior UN officials are subject to US government oversight and interference.
We have made it clear that such actions are inconsistent with the United States' obligations listed in the United Nations Charter and the United Nations Convention on Privileges and Immunities.”
