In the last 3 months, 17 journalists have appeared before a judge and were put on trial across Turkey. 16 of the 17 journalists arrested in April, May and June 2022 were from Diyarbakır. In the same period, 17 journalists and media representatives were detained and arrested while they were on duty, while 19 media representatives were attacked and at least 100 journalists and media workers appeared before the judge.
The Charges are Always the Same
17 journalists who were arrested in April, May and June were arrested and sent to a response house on charges of "unlawfully obtaining personal information", "membership in a terrorist organization" and "propagandizing for a terrorist organization".
