For an unknown reason, an explosion occurred in a 4-storey building in the port city of Marseille, France, and 2 buildings collapsed completely.
In a statement made by the authorities, it was recorded that the lifeless bodies of 2 people who were under the rubble were reached. It is estimated that at least 6 more people are under the rubble in the region where search and rescue efforts continue uninterrupted.
Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan said in a statement regarding the search efforts supported by specially trained dogs, "There is still hope, we will not stop as long as there is hope."
AT LEAST 200 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED
At least 200 people were evacuated from the area as a result of the collapse of two buildings in a row in Marseille. A relief center was also set up in the region for those looking for their missing.
THE TREATMENT IS CONTINUING
The treatment continues in the hospital where 5 people who were slightly injured in the incident were taken. While the investigations regarding the cause of the accident are continuing, it is emphasized that the explosion may have occurred from a gas leak.
