Meta, the owner of WhatApp, announced the new security measures of the application. According to the new security features announced, WhatsApp users will now be able to silently leave group conversations, control who can see their online status, and block "view once" messages from screenshots.
Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said these features will help keep WhatsApp messaging "as private and secure as conversation."
Highlighted by a worldwide campaign, new features will be available as updates for all users around the world starting this month, starting in the UK.
The World's Safest App
WhatsApp product manager Ami Vora said this is part of their focus on "creating product features that will empower people more over the control and privacy of their messages."
"We believe WhatsApp is the safest place for private conversation. No other global messaging service provides security at this scale to its users' messages, media, voicemail, video calls and message backups".
One of the new features is the ability to choose who to see when online on the platform from the "last seen" settings.
