An avalanche struck at a peak in the Gangotri Mountain range in the Garhwal Himalayas in India.
In the statement made by Uttarakhand state police chief Ashok Kumar, it was stated that 10 people lost their lives in the avalanche disaster and the search for 11 missing people continues.
Expressing that a group of 29 people was climbing in the region, Chief of Police Kumar said that 8 people were rescued and sent to the hospital. Uttarakhand Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the ongoing rescue efforts by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Indian army are supported by 2 helicopters.
