While Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson announced that the negotiations with Turkey on the NATO accession process would start again in March, Billström said that they hoped to reach their membership goals at the NATO summit to be held in July.
Starting in March
Speaking to the SVT channel in his country, Kristersson announced that as a result of the contacts with Turkey, a date was given in mid-March for the resumption of talks and that they were waiting for approval from Ankara.
Speaking to the American CNBC channel, Minister Billström referred to the agreement signed with Turkey and said, “We worked hard to fulfill everything we promised. We are currently waiting for the Turkish parliament to start the ratification process.”
While Finland and Sweden are waiting for Turkey's approval for NATO membership, Turkey states that Sweden has not yet fulfilled all the conditions of the agreement.
