After the elections for the lower house of the parliament, which is the lower house of the parliament, on March 19 in Kazakhstan, the government led by Älihan Smaiylov resigned as per the constitution.
In the statement made by the Presidency of Kazakhstan, it was stated that the decree on the resignation of the government was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The decree stated that the government will remain in office until the new cabinet members are approved by parliament.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his speech at the opening meeting of the 8th term of the parliament, announced that the Amanat Party, which received the most votes in the parliamentary elections held on 19 March, would become the prime minister candidate.
On the other hand, 50-year-old Prime Minister Älihan Smaiylov had been prime minister since January last year.
