The inside of the washing machine gets dirty due to various reasons such as the dirt accumulated over time, the dirty water remaining in some parts even though we cannot see it, and the wet laundry staying in the machine for a long time. If the washing machine is not cleaned properly, this can cause even the laundry we wash to smell bad.
As you can imagine, we will not be talking about cleaning products that contain various chemicals to clean your washing machine. We will tell you how to clean the washing machine at home with natural materials.
NATURAL METHODS TO CLEAN YOUR WASHING MACHINE
To Clean the Detergent and Softener Compartment of the Washing Machine: White Vinegar and Water
All you need to clean this area where detergent and softener residues leave traces is white vinegar and water.
Materials:
- 1 glass of white vinegar (If you can't find white vinegar, you can also use apple or grape cider vinegar)
- 1 liter of water
- Boil the water and let it rest for 5 minutes to get the first temperature.
- Add white vinegar to this hot water and mix well.
*If this compartment of your washing machine can be removed, first clean the residues on it with a clean cloth and clean water, then put it in the mixture you have prepared and wait for 10-15 minutes. Finally, rinse again with clean water and replace.
*If this compartment of your washing machine cannot be removed, you can reduce the amount of material you will use by half. In other words, add half a glass of white vinegar to 500 milliliters of hot water and mix.
- Then put this mixture in the spray bottle.
- Take a clean sponge and spray this mixture all over the compartment you can reach, and then clean it thoroughly with a sponge.
To Clean the Inside of the Washing Machine: Vinegar and Salt
Materials:
- 1 glass of white vinegar (If you can't find white vinegar, you can also use apple or grape cider vinegar)
- 1-1.5 tablespoons of salt
*First mix the vinegar and salt well, then put this mixture in the detergent compartment of the washing machine. (If you wish, you can put salt in the detergent compartment and pour the vinegar directly into the machine.) Then run your machine empty for 1.5 hours at 90 degrees. This much!
Note: In some washing machines, the temperature of 90 degrees can be quite challenging and negatively affect the performance of the machine. In such a case, you can also do the cleaning process at 60 degrees.
