'Mandatory Covid-19 Test' Retaliation from China to Western Countries
The Beijing administration announced that it could take countermeasures in response to countries that impose testing requirements on passengers from China.
China, which has been implementing a 'zero covid' policy for about 3 years, opened its borders by removing the coronavirus restrictions as of January 8.
The Chinese people, who have been isolated from the world for a long time, welcomed the decision. In just half an hour after the announcement of the decision, calls for international flights increased 7 times.
Mandatory Covid Test Application for Chinese from Some Countries
The USA, Italy, Japan, India and Taiwan have imposed a Covid test requirement on passengers from China. Passengers arriving from China in Italy are required to take a test at the airports.
Response to Countries Requiring Government Mandatory Testing
China has accused Western media of exaggerating cases and said it may take "countermeasures" in response to countries that impose testing requirements on them.
While it was claimed that "racism" was made against the Chinese in some comments made on social media in China, no rules were applied to other countries.
How is the Latest Situation in China?
There has been a sharp increase in the number of cases after the lifting of the strict coronavirus restrictions that have been in place for a long time in the country. While the Western media claims that hospitals and crematoriums are filling up fast, China claims that the increase in cases is not different from what is happening in other countries.
Chen Erzhen, deputy chief physician at Shanghai's Ruijin Hospital, told state media that he thinks 70 percent of Shanghai's population of 25 million is infected.
